The Pitch

An async autobattler where you build a team of quirky tamakins and let them battle their way to victory.

The Challenge

The Client requested a design heavily inspired by Super Auto Pets, while asking for meaningful innovations to make the game stand out.

As a design team, we kept SAP core design, while drawing heavily from Japanese folklore to make the playable units, the tamakins, irresistibly unique.

With the help of Magic Media’s amazing art team, we crafted creatures with surprising behaviours: the Kitsune starts as a Seductress, but eventually reveals her true nature. Or, a Torii on the battlefield may actually conceal an odd friend…

We had fun introducing Curses, Blessings and tasty Japanese food offerings as power-ups, in line with the wonderful, culturally-rich stories surrounding the Yokai.
